Businesses & Volunteers

If you need a little boost to get energized and excited about this year’s event, I hope you’ll check out last year’s video.

This year’s expo events will be on

-  Sept. 25 & 26 – WEST (Chatham) Career ChoICE Youth Expo @ the Olde Dominion Agricultural Complex
-  Oct. 9 & 10 – EAST (Farmville) Career ChoICE Youth Expo @ Hampden Sydney College

As in previous years, there are a multitude of ways to support Career ChoICE. Choose the option(s) that work best for you and your organization.

1. Submit a Young Professional Profile (or encourage a young professional you know to submit a profile) for the Career ChoICE website & potential inclusion in the Career ChoICE booklet. (Profiles submitted by Aug. 16th will be considered for this year’s printed Career ChoICE booklet.)

2. Organize & Facilitate a Hands-On Activity

The activities provided by our business and organizational participants are what make the Expo! Come introduce students to your company and give them a snapshot of what it's like to work in your field. (Over 4,000 students participated in the two events last year!)

Activity forms must be received no later than Sept. 2nd to be included on the students’ activity maps.

*If you’d like to participate but aren’t sure what you and your organization might do for a hands-on activity, please reach out to jessie.vernon@ialr.org. We’re happy to help you come up with ideas!

3. Volunteer - we need volunteers to assist with welcoming students, passing out backpacks, helping groups through the Expo, and ensuring things run smoothly.

DEADLINES FOR VOLUNTEER REGISTRATION:

- WEST- Chatham Event- Sept. 11

- EAST- Farmville Event- Sept. 25

4. Sponsor - your sponsorship will support both Career ChoICE AND AspHIRE. As such, your sponsorship level includes benefits through both programs- increasing your organizations’ visibility through both the number of student participants AND the number of events.

(To ensure that your organization’s logo and ad (if applicable) appear in the printed Career ChoICE booklet, sponsorship commitments, logos, and ads must be received by Aug. 16th.)

5. Share your Career ChoICE story with someone in your network and encourage them to join you in participating.

We are so excited for this year's events! We hope you’ll join us in helping students explore the awesome career opportunities available here in our region.

Please don’t hesitate to reach out if you have any questions.

We couldn’t host this event without you.

Thank you,

Jessie Vernon (Director, Employer Engagement & Experiential Learning, the Institute for Advanced Learning & Research)
