Oct. 2: New this year!!- Expo in the Evening (5-7pm)

Oct. 3 & 4: Student Days (8:30am-2:30pm)


Get involved in this year's event!

It takes hundreds of crew members (activity providers) and volunteers to make the Career ChoICE Youth Expo the amazing opportunity that it is for our regional students. There are numerous ways to participate and support the Career Expo. Whether you are an employer, employee, or retiree we hope you will consider joining us!


Description of Responsibilities

Crew Chiefs

We will hold a Crew Chief Luncheon at the Olde Dominion Agricultural Complex on July 20th. Please RSVP if you will be able to attend.

Organize an activity.  

Crew Chiefs are responsible for:

  1. Getting things organized with their organization and/or partnering organizations to ensure the success of their activity. Includes:

- Recruiting & scheduling crew members to man/run the activity during the event

- Securing equipment & supplies for the activity (you can request assistance from the planning committee)

Submitting the Activity Sheet for your activity. (You can preview the Activity sheet before submitting it HERE.)

                           *2018 Activity Forms are due by JULY 20th*

  1. Participating in/viewing the Crew Member Logistics Webinar Sept. 18, 2-3pm (the webinar will be recorded for later viewing) and ensuring all your fellow crew members within your organization watch it.
  2. Ensuring your activity is set up and ready to go during the scheduled "set-up" time on Oct. 2.
  3. Attending the one evening, two-day event and helping to ensure your activity runs smoothly. (You may wish to recruit a "co-chief" if your schedule doesn't permit you to participate in the multiple days of the event.)
Crew Members

Work/provide the hands on activities for the student attendees.

Crew members actively engage students in hands-on activities and conversation, sharing their passion for and details about their profession.

*Crew members are usually (but not always) recruited by a "Crew Chief"

It is highly recommended that all participating Crew Members participate in/view the Crew Member Logistics Webinar Sept. 18, 2-3pm (the webinar will be recorded for later viewing).


Volunteers help us ensure that the entire event runs smoothly!

Volunteers can help with setup or take-down; greet students as they arrive; help student groups navigate & transition from one Zone to another; help coordinate buses; get crew members, fellow volunteers, and visitors checked in; coordinate student lunches; etc.

All Volunteers will be asked to participate/view a Volunteer Logistics Webinar Sept. 25, 2-3pm (the webinar will be recorded for later viewing).

Financially or through in kind (materials/supplies) donation support the Expo.
School Attendees

Public school participation for the counties of Halifax, Henry, Patrick, & Pittsylvania and the cities of Danville & Martinsville is coordinated through each school system's representative on the Expo Planning Committee.

**Please note: this event is HIGHLY scheduled, schools CANNOT attend without making arrangements with the Expo planning team.
