19783 U.S. Highway 29, S.
Chatham, Virginia
Actively engaging more than 4,000 seventh graders and high school students to career choices in the Virginia communities of Danville and Martinsville and Halifax, Henry, Patrick and Pittsylvania Counties.

Modeled after Southwest Alabama's Worlds of Opportunity, Career ChoICE exposes students to hands-on activities by inspirational adults to ignite students' imaginations to unlimited career opportunities in Southern Virginia.

"I thought the career expo was an exciting and high energy event for the students and crews. This event is a good step in resolving the disconnect between regimented academic programs and the reality of finding a suitable career and being employable." - Sabrina Sleeper, Blair Construction

Career ChoICE showcases existing job opportunities so that students will have an option to stay in the region, based on an informed career decision with a clear understanding on:

  • Skills needed
  • Education levels required
  • Salaries they can expect

This event is an intentional effort to build a pipeline of students in strategic sectors that are aligned with economic development interests.
